June 19-22, New Bern, North Carolina

As part of our celebration of Austen's 250th Birthday, "Sensibility and Domesticity," the Jane Austen Summer Program seeks papers on adaptations of Sense and Sensibility in any medium, in whole or in part for our "Austen and Her Afterlives" panel. *

Possible topics:

  • Reconsidering Ang Lee's 1995 adaptation at 30

  • The 2024 Hallmark Channel production 

  • Shifts in setting, like Prada to Nada or Kandukondain, Kandukondain  (I Have Found It)

  • Prose adaptations: Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, Sense and Second-Degree MurderOrdinary Girls (YA), etc.

  • Kate Hamill's stage adaptation

  • Austen as an adpater of novelistic conventions and British Literature.

  • and more!
