The whirlwind of activities in store for you at JASP will require a lot of energy, so it is important to think about the best places to grab a coffee, a bite to eat, or some shelf-stable groceries for your dorm room. Chapel Hill has one of the most diverse foodscapes in North Carolina. There are many amazing options just on nearby Franklin Street. Here are 8 options that are close to UNC’s campus. If you want to get some snacks or dorm-ready meals, there is a small Target. Despite it being smaller than a standard Target, they have a wide variety of groceries and toiletries, in case you forget anything. It is a 15-minute walk or a 4-minute drive from Murphey Hall.

A quick walk from campus, Epilogue is a combination coffee shop and bookstore. (An absolute dream!) They have a diverse menu of pastries and drinks, many with a Mexican flare. They are best known for their churros, drinking chocolate, and top-tier coffee. It is an 11-minute walk or a 4-minute drive from Murphey Hall.

101 S Greensboro St, Carrboro, NC

This coffee shop is a staple for students and locals alike. This Carrboro location opened in 2005 and is the perfect place to grab a perfect cup of locally curated coffee. Carrboro Coffee Roasters, their own coffee brand, roasts their beans on-site. It is a 34-minute walk or an 8-minute drive from Murphey Hall.

If you are looking for a quick bite, Suttons is a soda-shop-style restaurant that has been a quintessential part of Chapel Hill’s culture since 1923! It has a variety of breakfast and lunch foods that you would find at an old-fashion diner. Some of their most popular dishes are their chicken tenders, the Sutton’s Club, and BLTs. It is a 10-minute walk or a 5-minute drive from Murphey Hall.

Located right on Franklin Street, Carolina Coffee Shop is the oldest continually running restaurant in North Carolina. They offer a large brunch menu that is served until 3, as well as a large selection for lunch, dinner, and cocktails. It is an 11-minute walk or a 5-minute drive from Murphey Hall.

If you want to see a beautiful view of Chapel Hill while you are eating, Top of the Hill is absolutely perfect. This restaurant and brewery is quintessential Chapel Hill. It serves a large variety of options of everything from bar food to healthy upscale entrees. They are also known for their signature cocktails and locally made spirits. It is an 11-minute walk or a 4-minute drive from Murphey Hall.

This is the perfect place to go if you are looking for delicious Mexican food with a twist. This is the newest edition to Franklin Street on this list. They have many different options including street tacos, burritos, and fajitas. A personal favorite of mine is the flan! It is a 15-minute walk or a 4-minute drive from Murphey Hall.

A personal favorite of the Chapel Hill community is Mediterranean Deli. It is a perfect place to get a healthy and affordable meal right near campus. They have a large variety of mains, sides, and desserts to appeal to absolutely anyone's pallet. They also have an adjoining grocery store with everything from candy to ready-made meals to take back to JASP. It is a 20-minute walk or a 7-minute drive from Murphey Hall.
